As your new president, I think you all should know a little about me. If you haven’t met me yet, consider this my introduction. First of all, I would like to send a huge thank you to Shoe and Johnny for fostering our club into what it is today. We have a vibrant crew filled with lots of competent brewers. Our club keeps getting better and better, and I look forward to taking us further.
Amanda and I both hail from the small town of Lexington, VA, nestled in the heart of the Shenandoah mountains. We both went to University of Virginia in Charlottesville, where I got a master’s in electrical engineering. I moved to Colorado Springs in 2006 to take a job with Agilent Technologies, and Amanda followed soon after.
As for my brewing background, my brother kicked me into the hobby with a typical bucket-based starter kit, and into kegging a few years later. Because I have been an apartment dweller until a few years ago, I spent way too long doing partial mash batches. It took a six-month old kid in my life (Danny is now 2 years old) and nearly ten years of brewing to finally get me off my butt and build a true all-grain setup. Since then, I’ve become obsessed. Currently, I brew on a single-tier BCS-460 stand that I designed and had built custom, pulling ideas from the Brew Magic, Morebeer’s brew sculptures, and the Electric Brewery.
