Brew Bros of Pikes Peak (BBoPP) General Membership Meeting Minutes

Approximately fifty members attended the first meeting of 2012 held in the pool hall at Phantom Canyon brewpub. The meeting was called to order by ex-president John Garbett (AKA JohnnyBrew). He remarked on the progress the club had made in the five years he presided and introduced the new president, Steve Maszkiewicz (AKA ShoeBrew).
Shoe thanked Johnny for his service and introduced the new officers:
Vice President and Secretary – Rich Mock (AKA DinoBrew)
Treasurer, Membership and Equipment Custodian – JohnnyBrew
Special Events Coordinator – Michele Gandy (AKA HardlyBrew)
Competition Coordinator – Scott Buckholz (AKA BuckBrew)
Educations Directors – John Landreman (AKA LandyBrew) and Mike McGuckian (LeftyBrew)
IT Director – Stephen Shelton (AKA AtorBrew)
Johnny reported for his various positions. Membership cards will be distributed at the next meeting. Rocky Mountain Brewery will not sponsor us this year. They will be replaced by Pikes Peak Brewery where members will get a second beer on the house. The treasury contained $1843 at the beginning of the new year. Our grain mill drill had to be replaced bringing the total down to $1785. The influx of annual dues should put us past $2000. Johnny arranged for new club t-shirts at a member cost of $10. The membership approved a complementary shirt for new members. Johnny also arranged for club pint glasses which will be available at the next meeting for $2 each.
Ator announced that the new club website was up at www.brewbrosco.com The site will include an event calendar. Rather than send e-mail blasts to old, incorrect address lists, please send any general information to Shoe at email@example.com — he will send to all members. The club has a Facebook presence at Brew Brothers Homebrew Club and will soon have Twitter account. Feedback is always welcome.
Mike Bordick (AKA AxeBrew) reported on the seventh annual Peterson AFB homebrew competition and fest for BuckBrew who was not in attendance. This is the biggest event for BBoPP and many volunteers are needed to pull it off. Entries are due on 2 Feb with drop-offs at Pikes Peak Brewing or the PAFB club for those that have base access. There will be a road trip with a pub crawl to Denver to pick up enries on Fri, 3 Feb. Volunteers are needed for sorting which will take place at the club on 4 Feb. The main judging session will be at the club on Sat 11 Feb. Depending on the number of entries there may be an additional session on Fri, 10 Feb. For those that don’t have base access, you need to provide personal info to Axe. Contact him to get involved at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Johnny reported that the club brew (Olde BroAle) at Rockyard Brewery in Castle Rock will soon be ready for bottling. Volunteers are needed for this operation.
Shoe reported for Matt Baldwin (AKA CrackBrew) on the club firkin. The membership approved purchase a full firkin (>10 gal) for approximately $200. As equipment custodian, Johnny will keep it as his house. We need to discuss how we will use this at the next meeting.
The membership approved the purchase of ten bronze plaques to recognize our sponsors at an approximate cost of $10 each. Johnny will purchase and club reps will present at the appropriate time.
The meeting adjourned at 7:30 PM and the raffle and socializing began. The next meeting will be held at Pikes Peak Brewery in Monument on Tues, 7 Feb at 6 PM. We’re looking for other places to meet on the south side. Please let Shoe know if you have access to a suitable facility.
