If asked to describe Nick Brunetti, I would not know where to begin. He was a true friend with so many great characteristics: kind, giving, thoughtful, loud, sincere, laid back, full of joy, never one to judge, funny, great brewer…my list could go on forever…but most of all, he valued all the relationships he built. He cared for all his friends as if we were brothers and sisters.
After Nick passed away, his parents wanted a way to continue his legacy and created a scholarship fund. This fund would be given to a deserving senior from Nick’s high school, Peters Township High School (near Pittsburgh PA), that would be pursuing an education in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering programs. In June, the first recipient of the Nicholas Brunetti Memorial Scholarship was given to Matthew Dixon. Matt is a valedictorian and national merit scholar. He will be attending Penn State this year. With the assistance of the Brew Brothers of Pikes Peak Beer Club, Matthew was presented with a $1000 scholarship in Nick’s memory.
One on Nick’s favorite bands was Lynard Skynard and a lyric that comes to mind, “If I leave here tomorrow, will you still remember me?” For all that have had the opportunity to know Nick, know he will always be remembered.
Cheers – or as Nick would say “take it to the face!”

Scott Ketelaar was the recipient we chose this yr. to receive Nick’s scholarship. A well deserving young man graduating with honors. Will attend Rochester Institute of Technology in the fall. He has overcome lots of neurological issues since 8th grade. He is paralyzed on his L side and has bilateral hearing loss. He has a very positive attitude and has been interested in computer programming since 8th grade. He has developed many web applications already! Very proud but very sad night as well.
